Agreement for Handling Time

We usually ship this item within 4-7 days after receipt of payment. Probably you don't have to wary about this too much though, there is a possibility that we would need a few weeks or much more weeks for handling time of this item. We are holding a few items in our original stock as the stock specially for these listings but, if somebody customers visited to the local shop and got a lot of sandals at one time, the stock will be out of control. We sometimes have to wait three months to receive only one pair of sandals if the they were completely sold out at the local shop in Kyoto plus the craftsman had too much hard schedule. The awaiting time of three months is the longest handling time we have ever had though, there were some experiences that we awaited it in the past.
We are doing our best for the controlling stock. But please bear in mind there is a possibility that we may be in a situation we have to wait much days to receive it and we could not ship the item very soon. If you worry about this, please contact us before purchasing these items.

Tips on wearing Japanese sandals

Did you know?
If you have felt that a Japanese sandals are too small for your feet size when you wear a Japanese sandals likely Geta, Zouri, Okobo, and so forth, please bear in mind that it is NOT strange.
Japanese people usually wear every kinds of sandals with slightly hanging our heel out from the back-edge of the sandals. That is the largest reason why you feel "It's too small!!" when you wear it if you did not know the reason.
In Japan, every kinds of Japanese sandals goes by a name of "tsukkake"in Japanese. The word "tsukkake" means like "toe-shoes". It might be an epoch-making invention created as a useful item which everybody can easily wear it as daily-use shoes in poor ages in Japan. People had to fit their own feet to a shoe, not fitting a shoe for a feet size.
So it was though that the wearing way hanging heel out from the sandals is cool way to wear from those days in Japan.
Probably they meant it that they admonish themselves not to do such a luxury.
Again, please remember that it is not strange even if your heel was hung out approximately one inch from the edge of the sandals. It's very cool!!

What is the difference between Geta and Zouri?

The difference between Geta and Zouri is very similar to the situation between leather shoes and sneakers. Probably you usually wear a leather shoes when you dress up with a suit, otherwise you wear a sneakers when you wear a jeans-like casual wearing, right? It's definitely similar!! In Japan, we wear a Zouri with a kimono when we go to somewhere formal place, then we wear a Geta with a yukata when we go to somewhere casual place. The sandal which was made from wood is called "Geta", and the sandal which was shaped slim covering with leather including synthetic leather is usually called "Zouri"(the basic zouri was made from knitted thin bamboo without leather). Okobo is a kid of Geta BUT, Okobo is eligible for wearing in both formal and casual special-use traditional sandal since old days in Japan.

We need the measurements to set up a pair of hanao to a pair of wooden shoe base. As we described on the item page, the wooden shoe base would be offered in a fixed size. Buyer has to submit the info to let us customize and adjust the hanao (string) to let yourself wear the wooden sandals comfortable.

To get your own custom Geta, take your foot measurements in the following areas:
1. Lowest point (green line) - Toe height
2. Highest point (red line) - Front of ankle
3. Widest point (blue line) - Foot width
4. Length (black line) - Toe to heel

Once you have taken your measurements, simply choose a Geta base and a Hanao string to complete your custom Geta shoes.
